Donkeys are so special. They are such humble creatures and definitely the best pets and protectors! We had the donkey Ferrier, Amy who owns AE Ferrier Services. She did an amazing job! We have learned so much about how to care for these sweet creatures! Because of our pasture and the terrier of our property the Ferrier does not need to come out as frequently. BUT donkeys do need donkey mash! Donkeys love chewing. The donkeys nose is always in grass and on the ground. Because of this they will eat sand and dirt. The dirt and sand get in their bellies and can cause many issues for them. We make donkey mash to help them get the sand out of their intestinal tract and to save us vet bills in the future. They love it and can’t get enough of it!

This is the recipe for our donkey mash is: (Our Donkey Rescue place gave it to us)

  1. 1 carrot per donkey (I boil it)
  2. ½ cup of bran
  3. ½ cup of oats
  4. ½ Pysllium Husk Powder

Serve it immediately.

We give this to our donkeys once a week.
