What is orphan hosting? It is the opportunity of the life time. Imagine your whole family going on a mission trip together. Only it is at your home! Your kids get to learn a different language and also share Jesus with them! Hosting is where a child from 7-15 can come over to America to experience what a family looks like. Most of these children have never experienced family or know what it means to belong. If they do not have this chance to know how amazing it is, they will send their children to the orphanage themselves. The system repeats. Also, these kids leave the orphanage around 15 with no skills. Many of the children go into prostitution or lead a life of crime. The average life of a orphan is 30 years old. You do not have to adopt and sometimes it is best not going into hosting thinking you will adopt. There are many social orphans which mean these kids have one parent that comes to see them, but can not afford them. Then there are orphans who might have parents or may not, but the parental rights have been taken away. Hosting a child changes the child’s life. Countries have seen improvements with children being hosted. The child feels loved and knows someone cares about them. If you host a older child, you have the opportunity to show them how to cook, clean, laundry, and wash dishes. They know basic life skills to help them survive after they leave. There are two different times of the year you can host a child. Hosting is offered during Christmas break for 5 weeks or during summer break for 8-12 weeks. You will be amazed at the progression of these kids and the love of these children. It is a privilege for them to be selected to come to America! They are all great kids! God will do amazing things in you and your family by selecting a orphan and loving on them for a short time!
There is a fee for hosting because you do have to bring the child over. Remember you are going on a mission trip! You will need to pay for the passport, the airline tickets, and health insurance.
