He has Risen! Have I mentioned, I love holidays? When you have young kids, holidays are so fun to do fun homeschooling activities. There are many moms that ask me what curriculum they should use for preschool or even kindergarten! You know, I never used one. There are so many great ideas online. Yes, they are FREE and so fun! I think we doubt ourselves or think our kids should be doing so much more, then they really need to be doing when they are young. I remember when I started homeschooling. I had no clue what I was doing! I prayed for God to put women in my life that I could learn from and provide Godly wisdom to me. God is so good. He provided just want I needed. Seasoned homeschooling women who had kids at all different ages. Each of them encouraged me and told me I was enough and doing a great job. Don’t we need friends to pick us up?! Yes! I still ask homeschooling mamas how they do it, what God has taught them, and what things have worked for their family. It gives me ideas and leaves me praying for God to show me ways I can improve and teach my kids the way He wants it done. I think we can be our worst critic. We compare our homeschooling style to other moms or even to traditional school. We even tend to compare our kids to other kids and then “the doubt” of not doing enough sets into our mind. You know when we doubt ourselves to something God has called us to do, we are doubting God. Matthew 14: 31 says, “Jesus immediately reached out his hand and took hold of him saying to him, “O you of little faith, why did you doubt?” Our Creator placed you in the care and charge of your children. He never doubted His creation. He had picked that child or children for you. So He never doubted you in your capabilities of raising your children, when your eyes our focused on Him. He also said, following Him wasn’t going to be easy. But He knew it would be good for you and your kids. He is shaping you one day at a time!
When the kids are young, it’s so fun to spend time with them learning. They do not even know they are learning and you are doing it together! In all seriousness, I love teaching littles. There are so many fun things you can do and they don’t even know they are learning. Holidays are such a great way to look for fun activities and even science experiments. It may take a little time, but it really doesn’t have to take much! I laminate everything and use it again and again. Some of the things my twins are using, were what my oldest did 5 years ago! This past week we have been getting ready for spring and Easter. My twins loved counting Jelly Beans, sorting them, and matching letters inside eggs to a piece of paper. We did some fun art projects and even branched out and did an egg drop. The kids gathered things and put them inside a paper bowl surrounding the egg. We practiced our scientific method and talked about gravity. It was fun!
