Lamb Meat

In May we took our sheep to slaughter. We found a very reasonable butcher who does it for us! The ideal time to slaughter the sheep is before 1 year of age. The meet needs to hang at the butcher for about 5 weeks before we can pick it up. We ended up getting 90 pounds of meat! You think that’s a lot? Not really with our family. It gets eaten quick. Lamb meat does have a distinct flavor. My kids love it! I like to mix lamb meat and turkey meat together when I cook so the flavor is neutral. It is fun having people come over for dinner and ask them how the meal tastes! We then tell them it is our sheep meat!
